Weatherproofing Silicone Sealant
Weatherproofing Silicone Sealant

GE silicone sealants are an excellent choice for a wide range of weatherproofing applications due to the outstanding weather resistance, durability, adhesion, and high movement capability provided by silicone sealants. The combination of these properties enables the GE weatherseal products to provide long-term sustainability in many new applications, and help minimize ongoing maintenance costs by remediating issues in many older buildings. GE weatherseal products provide the two most critical attributes of effective weathersealing products: long-term efficacy in sealing out air and water, and the ability to withstand weather and atmospheric conditions without degradation.

Typical applications include:
Expansion and control joints in buildings and facades
Window and door perimeters
Smoke and fire control
Sidewalks
Plazas
Parking decks
Architectural wall coatings

1- SilPruf

Description:
A high-strength weatherproofing silicone sealant and structural glazing adhesive that provides extended tooling time and withstands significant joint movement. Supplied as a paste, SilPruf is a one-component, medium-modulus, neutral-cure silicone for use with a wide variety of materials in new and remedial projects. Capable of adhesion to a wide variety of substrates, able to withstand harsh weather conditions, and exhibiting the movement capability required of complex designs, SilPruf is an exceptional choice for a multitude of both weathersealing and structural glazing applications.

Performance:
Silicone durability – once cured, silicone exhibits excellent long-term resistance to natural weathering, including: extreme temperatures; ultraviolet radiation; and rain and snow, with negligible change in elasticity.
Movement capability – once cured, SilPruf exhibits +/- 50% movement in both extension and compression and is capable of withstanding daily exposure to various weather conditions.
Thermal stability (cured state) – remains elastic under a wide range of weather conditions, from –55° F (-48° C) to 300° F (149° C), and can withstand 400° F (204° C) temperatures with intermittent exposure.

Application:
Stable consistency (uncured state) – supplied as a lightweight paste SilPruf remains unchanged over a wide temperature range, making the paste easily gunned and tooled in both hot and cold conditions.
Extended work life – allows for prolonged placement and tooling time.
Low sag or slump – allows for horizontal, vertical, and overhead application. Once cured, the product forms a strong seal with minimal sinkage or slippage.

Packaging:
SilPruf is available in the following configurations:
  1. 310 ml plastic caulking cartridges
  2. 600 ml. foil sausage packs

Aesthetics:
Color assortment – available in eight standard colors, six special colors, and customizable color configurations.
